That's a wrap! I'm ECSTATIC to announce that my new Granfalloon album 'Calendar - Phase III' is back from being mastered, or to put it another way it is FINISHED!
"But a-Riccardo, Art is never finished. Only abandoned."
Okay Leo, to put it yet another way... I've abandoned the new Granfalloon album. But I'm ready to invite others to share it with me now.
'Calendar - Phase III' is the third part of a triptych of albums that I began recording in 2021 and began writing in 2014(!) This 10 year project has been maddening & enriching, frustrating & satisfying, in equal measure.
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that it has taken my nervous system to deliver this album. And as such, coupled with my growing distaste for the way the modern music industry works, I'll be releasing it in a way that's slightly different...
This album 'Calendar III' will be released one track a month throughout 2025 EXCLUSIVELY to those who support my music on Bandcamp and Patreon. Each month you can expect one of these lovingly crafted songs in your inbox for you to enjoy and by the end of 2025, you'll have the entire album plus the wonderful artwork (I'm looking at it now and it is indeed wonderful... beguiling and dreamy).
And that will be alongside the usual output of unheard demos, covers, songwriting blogs, and behind the scenes videos. My Patreon starts at £3 a month, the Bandcamp starts at £20 a year. Those of you that have already signed up for this, I appreciate your support every day and I cannot wait for you to hear this album. It honestly could not have been made without your support.
Speaking of those without whom the album would not exist, massive thanks has to go to all of those musicians involved in the making of this album...
Daz Woodcock, Dom Major, Elliot Barlow, Andrew Raven, Lobelia Lawson, Lucy McLuckie, Hazel Watson, Pat Clarke, thirds, Andy Lyth, Chloe Jones, and the best named horn section outside of New Orleans, Biffy Roxby and Vinny Starbuck.
Thanks to Jack Prest who always offers the best finishing line advice. I was very lucky to also have him as the mastering engineer on this one.
And thanks to my family, friends and loving wife who kept me (mostly) sane throughout the album's recording and mixing. No idea what comes after this. Looking forward to figuring that out.
So it goes.
